Are you new to Corralejo? Do you want to make new friends? Are you on holiday and would like to join the locals? OR are you just looking for something different to do on a Thursday evening?

If so, this may be just for you. Every Thursday evening starting around 8.00 PM, Fuertenews hosts a “Get Together and Meet the Neighbours” night at the Oasis Bar in the Atlantico Centre in Corralejo - opposite Dubliners on the top floor.

Our focus is currently on playing games. Whether you're into dominoes, cribbage, chess or backgammon. Come along and join us.

The idea for these evenings is simple enough. Everyone is invited; as well as alcoholic beverages the bar serves tea and coffee; when you arrive simply introduce yourself to Corinne, owner of the Oasis Bar. The purpose of the club is to create a loose knit group of people who either live in Fuerteventura, are about to move here, or of those unlucky individuals still waiting to make the big jump!! If you have any friends who share your same interest in the island please tell them about us as well.

PREVIOUS NO PASA NADA SESSIONS

A couple of weeks ago we had a cheese tasting  - 3 from the North of the Island and 4 from the South. We also tried Membrillo, a quince jelly that the Spanish often eat with cheese. Yum!

Interestingly, the cheeses from the North - Guriamen - were voted the best. Even though they were cheaper and the cheese makers in the South - Maxorata - have won gold medals in international competitions for their cheeses.

It was also the birthday of one of our regular members - Brian from Triquiviate. He was given a birthday balloon to get him in the mood, which he tied to the back of his trousers so he wouldn't lose it.

He then insisted it went everywhere with him - and we mean literally everywhere!

He loved the cake we got for him, and was most chuffed when we sang him Happy Birthday in Spanish, even though he had difficulty working out how to use his camera to get a photo of it - John came to the rescue though.
