Guardia Civil Officers in Fuerteventura Accused of Forming a Criminal Organisation

The continuing investigation into the Botavara case in Fuerteventura that involved the distribution of drugs and criminal assault heard this week

It is said that the Prosecutor has reduced the earlier petitions for prison sentences for 13 defendants in this case.

However, the Prosecutor maintains that four of the five accused Guardia Civil officers were part of a criminal organisation that assaulted homes, tortured prisoners and operated a drug distribution organisation in the north of Fuerteventura, and asks for prison sentences of between 12 and 23 years.

The defence lawyers for the accused Guardia Civil officers have demanded that this entire investigation should be nullified and that these four agents should be freely acquitted.
