A Sad Drowning On the Island

A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD boy has died after being pulled from a private swimming pool

 

He was found floating unconscious in the water at La Oliva on the holiday island of Fuerteventura.

Despite being airlifted to the to the Maternal and Child University Hospital on Gran Canaria  doctors could not save his life. 

The 112 emergency control centre said they received a call at around 7pm  Sunday and a basic life support ambulance, firefighters, rescue helicopter and the Local Police and the Guardia Civil attended the accident.

Initially the child was admitted in a serious condition to the General Hospital on Fuerteventura and later transferred by helicopter to the Maternal and Child University Hospital of Gran Canaria, where despite being admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit but doctors were unable to save his life.

An investigation has been opened to discover why the child, of Chinese nationality, was playing alone in the pool.
