In this Week's Issue

Hello again

Welcome back to Elaine (hairbrain) Read all about her cruise and the fun she had.

Well this week in Corralejo is “party party party” The carnival fun runs throughout the week, this Saturday is the gala to select the Carnival Queen, cumulating in the “Grand Parade” through the town on Saturday 13th. This is followed by the annual all night party.  Corralejo is a ghost town on the following Sunday morning.

Restaurants and bars  down near the harbour have lined the streets with tables and chairs for late night relaxing throughout the week.

If you want to get away from it all visit El Cotillo where there is daily wind surfing competitions right up until 12th March.

We finally seem to have come to the end of the really bad winter storms. The evenings are getting lighter and we look forward again to those long sunny evenings.

Enjoy the week ahead.

Penny

Heads you win, tails we lose
Bus Stop Dave

Here in the UK the arrival of Spring is turning people’s thoughts towards the looming General Election. We’re told the date will be the 6th of May but no doubt that will be confirmed or denied when it’s good for us to know. It would be over-stating the options before us to call it Hobson’s Choice. For that reason alone, the turnout is likely to be far lower than the viewing figures for the X Factor. What makes that serious rather than simply ironic is that all this proves a loss of faith in democracy itself.

Memories of Fuerteventura Part 3
Guestroom

Staying in the yesteryear theme of long time ago: and journeying south from Caleta de Fuste on those un-surfaced roadways, with goats exhibiting a total disregard for the infrequent vehicle that crossed their way: you came across a sign on your left at Risco del Passo saying, Villa Christina, but at that time there was no left turn allowed, so you had to turn right swing round until you faced across the road, then drive straight across, a bit inconvenient but it worked. Today with the black-stuff death-way you can pull into the middle of the road and wait: then, if you are still alive, turn left.

Making a Difference
Spiritual Life

This was the theme for the Gibraltar Archdeaconry Synod held recently in Portugal.

Clergy and Lay representatives met together for 4 days exploring this theme and sharing ideas and concerns. It is always a fruitful time and one of the few occasions when chaplaincies throughout the Archdeaconry realise they are not “alone”.

Charity Walk
Guestroom

The walk is being organised by me, Trevor Mills, at the request of a lady in the village who is celebrating her 70th birthday that weekend and instead of presents she wants to try to raise money for these charities.

She already has adopted three dogs from OKAPI and feeds half a dozen feral cats around the Finca she lives in.

The local Mayor of Antigua Gustavo who was/is a vet has given his approval and help to the walk.
