Hello Richard………

Thanx for the email…..it is one year to the day since my arrival in the fishing village of El Cotillo, Fuerteventura, and am still here so it can’t be bad.

The intention was only to stay six months or so and then travel but life seems now to be an unpredictable adventure for me here amongst Spanish friends under the almost constant sunshine….so I will remain meantime but not forever.

The only certainty is that I won’t be back in the UK …tooooooo cold! And at 52 tomorrow…(yes tomorrow) am toooo old.

Keeping myself occupied here with cameras and writing…published in most of the island press now, and running a bar…despite the fact that I have been t-total for over 7 months.

Regrets?…not really….although the bigger picture of life will always contain my mistakes…. The railways were no longer the place where I felt valued, thus loyalty was on the wane.

The slick cosmetic veneer of corporate sustainability a thinning membrane stretching over the tracks (sic) of disaster waiting to happen, which I wanted no part of.

You know me, never a yes man.

So here I am photographing sports, sun worshippers and island life in general …..my biggest struggle being with a foreign language which comes tantalisingly close to comprehension only to shimmy just out of tongues reach again and again ………

Say hello to those whom you think appropriate.

Hasta la vista baby…..
