Another Fiesta and
Oh..let the football begin……..
Just when you thought the
all night music was over for another year El Cotillo hosted
(not for the first time?) Il Faro Joven. Billed largely as a
reggae festival…. more rap than Rasta I would say……..
There at the advertised football ground location and start time
of 9pm when it was just me and the floodlights. Slowly the
crowd began to drift in but I’ll learn one day…the local
populace start partying later and commensurately go on much
longer …….. No closing time in El Cotillo……………….or if there is
I’ve yet to find it!
It has been suggested too, that a 15 Euro admission charge was
sufficient deterrent to keep the crowds away….but as the night
wore on there were a good few hundered inside the campo de
futbol………
Thus after climbing into bed at around 4 in the morning…it was
a few hours descansar…. then off to the football for U. D.
Fuerteventura and their first home fixture of the 2007 –08
season.
Talking admission prices as we are, the club have hiked
admission 100% from 5 to 10 euros…Oh well that’s what promotion
does for you!
Curiously I expected the ground to be packed if the queue at
the ticket office was going to be any reflection of attendance
numbers………but no. Oh well at least the club maintained the
fantastic unbeaten start….how much will they charge if La Liga
is ever reached and Los Galacticos come calling?
