ALLO PIZZA

If you have been searching for some not-so-heavy-and-greasy fish & chips in Corralejo, then look no further - you really must try the fish & chips at Allo Pizza. Yes, that’s right, the Pizza restaurant at the top of the high street just before the water park.

I know, I know, I know, one tends to associate pizza as American or Italian food, and associate fish & chips as British food and thus served in a fish & chip shop, rather than a pizza restaurant in Spain. Oh, and to really add to the confusion, the owner of the pizza restaurant, Robert (pronounced Rob-bear), is French! But trust me, the French man serves the least greasiest fish & chips in this neck of the woods.

Further more, at 4.80€ for an adult plate of fish & chips, what more can I hear you ask for? Hamburger and chips perhaps, well, the French man serves that too.

It appears that Robert has made some adjustments to his original menu in order to meet the needs of his British clientele, hence the fact that he now serves a traditional full English breakfast and only prepared with British products. (I think it’s just a matter of time before the Indian Tandori, Thai and Chinese restaurants catch on and follow the same trend of adding a full English breakfast to their menus). The other adjustment, or diplomatic gesture, to his original menu is to serve paella too.

Whilst each pizza has been thoughtfully created to tantalise your taste buds, the pizza menu has something for everyone… classic, vegetarian, meaty, exotic, tropical, seafood, triple-cheesy, and Oriental. In addition to the typical ingredients used for a pizza, Robert also uses crab, mussels, capers, and double cream. A variety of cheese is used: Roquefort, goat, emmenthal and of course, mozzarella.

Once you place your order, the pizza chef gets busy. The pizza dough is fresh and is prepared right there in front of you. After the sauce has been spread and the toppings sprinkled on top, the pizza is then popped into the large oven. While you wait for your pizza to be cooked, you can order a cool drink and either sit inside, or outside on the covered patio.

As relaxing as it is to sit and sip on a cool drink and watch the people go by, Allo Pizza also offers a home-delivery service. Whether you decide to eat inside or outside the restaurant, order take-out, or home-delivery, I am certain you will be impressed with the friendly service, price, quality and taste of the food. Dessert is offered from a wide selection of Kalise brand sweet treats from the freezer inside the restaurant.

One evening when I was dining at Allo Pizza, I noticed, that in addition to catering for the individual pizza orders, Robert was busy catering for a large group of people. Apparently, a local family were having some sort of family gathering. The family made contact in advance with Robert and asked him to prepare two specific dishes that were not on the regular menu. They wanted one enormous spinach, mushroom and onion lasagne and one traditional lasagne. Several tables and chairs on the patio were re-arranged and it was evident, that thanks to Robert, the festive family gathering was enjoyed by all.

I truly applaud Robert for his sincere effort to accommodate and meet the needs of his diverse clientele. Cheers Robert and merci beaucoup!
