CHRISTMAS HERE AGAIN

Hectic you are all thinking this time of year but here in Fuerteventura it is still Manana although I must say every year it does become more commercial as the shops and restaurants are all lit up showing Santa the way here so he doesn't forget us on this little island.

We have had a few visitors leading up to Xmas such as two of our famous Pubrats Ali &Steve who obviously tried to come away from the bustle leading up to Xmas and that they did lying in the sun everyday and fully recharging themselves for the parties in the U.K.

I know Jenni & Chris are having one and we are sorry we cannot be there but the weather and Toby, and these lovely girls hold us here. Who would help them unwrap their pressies.

We were suppose to have another visitor last week my nephew Lee but his rather large dog Buddy hurt his leg so he had to cancel as his dog is so huge, my brother Ray who usually looks after him while Lee is away could not carry him outside to do his business (eat more spinach Ray). Just joking, I must admit there is no way I would have left Toby last Xmas when he was poorly, as you know how I am with animals still feeding all the cats on the harbour and rescuing dogs.

I must say I have quite a quiet couple of weeks except Sue and I did treat ourselves to lunch at the Bahia Real our lovely 5 star hotel in Corralejo,.
We sat on the terrace eating a plate of assorted cheeses, crusty bread and a mixed salad, very civilized but only when we washed it down with champagne as one does.

We sat chatting and looking out over Lobos and Lanzarote and writing out our Christmas lists as Sue was jet setting of to the U.K. next day to see her family. MERRY XMAS TO HER MUM AND DAD AS THEY READ MY PAGE ALL THE TIME .

I HAD BETTER NOT MENTION to them Sue and I did get a little tipsy that afternoon especially as they gave us Gratis a tumbler of liqueur, could not they see we were Ladies but then Sue was hiding behind the plant looking suspicious or was she just looking for the loo???

Great afternoon tea for ladies but note we will not tell you the cost cause we're Ladies!!!!

WAKE UP ELAINE. Reality kicks in tomorrow
Next day it was too the extreme as I had to go gardening at a Villa I look after in La Oliva, so abolish the glad rags of yesterday and adorn shorts, tee-shirt and Marigold gloves and my side kick Claire to assist me.
Hours and 22 bags of garden refuse later we finally straightened up and collapsed on the ground knackered and the bubbly from yesterday did not help.

I decided to phone for help to carry the bags away so we called Jim our trusted knight who came to the rescue of lifting these huge bags of wet weeds but alas it was too much for him so down he went so we had to lift him up plus help him with the bags.

A woman’s work is never done!
Enough about work so last night we went to the new shopping centre Campanario where all the lights in Spain must have been placed. We sat drinking and listening to a Spanish band singing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer in Spanish it was fantastic atmosphere, the shops were all open and people were bustling and laughing and the later it got the more children appeared. In the U.K. most children would be in bed by 10 o’clock but here where mum&dad and granny goes they take their offspring. Real Xmas.

We met some friends there John and Diane and chatted with our festive surroundings and compared everything to England, the biggest difference, we weren’t in coats and scarves. It was 18 degrees on the 8th December.

Well we then strolled home along the beach and ???
Next day breakfast in El Cotillo with Peter and Slyvanna looking out to sea and it was so hot I had to get under the umbrella.
Sorry to mention this but as you can tell life is still good here and the weather still holds us here.
