Well the carnival this year really went with a bang! The fireworks on the Sunday were stunning although a little scary as those of us on the sea front were sprayed with sea water and littered with debris! One stray spark actually set a tree on fire outside the Hideaway and the bomberos had to come and put it out!
But the fright was worth it as you can see...
especially the ones that were shot from a cannon out onto the sea
One slightly amusing moment was when a sign for the carnival was set off - because it said "Feliz Carnaval 2009"!! However it could also have been 2006 with the six turned upside down - is the council trying to economise? The sardine this year was particularly surreal!
Spectacular though the fireworks were, my favourite night is always the main parade on the Saturday. It seemed even longer than last year and so many people had put a great deal of effort into both the floats and their costumes. The theme was Under the Sea this year and here are some of my favourites...

not sure, but at least there are some fish! To give him his due this is Neil a holidaymaker who didn't even know the carnival was on until he got here - so top marks for effort!
