Diva's Diary

Never the Bride, always the Diva!

Hello my Lovelies!!!! Well, WHAT a fortnight this has been!!! Flights, celebrity bashes, shopping and shows, so forget a glass of vino for this one... get the bottle!!!

As most of you know, I headed off for the 'sunnier' climate of London Mid August, for a number of different reasons, apart from visiting family and friends, there was a couple of personal appearances that HAD to made.

First, at the house of Nikki Lamborn, lead singer of 'Never the Bride' (and for those of you who don't know, these are the guys who wrote and produced Dame Shirley Basseys new single 'The Living Tree', and also produced her new Album, Get the Party Started... which is now on sale).  A house full of Rockers was not what I thought would be my cup of tea... but how wrong I was, Upon meeting Nikki at the door, we were greated with the BIGGEST hug and kisses, followed by a scream of... 'OH MY GOD, a real life celebrity in the house'. We were led through to the garden, where the barbeque... and BAR were in full swing, in the 'specially prepared' smoking area.

After a little net-working, everyone knew everyone and the banter was really flowing, here I med Ed (to the left of the second photo), He is in charge of Dame Shirleys Web-site, a lovely guy who I now am in close contact with for up and coming changes in the Dames style (one has to keep ahead).

As the evening progressed, a number of different celebs arrived at the party, including Managers, Producers, Song writers and designers, and these Fabulous girls called 'Elysium', these young ladies had voices like you could only imagine, and a spine chilling version of Nesson Dorma brought the house down... Keep your eye out for these girls... they are going to be HUGE!!!

All this was in a couple of days of me arriving in London at my private Wimbledon Residence (Many many thanks to Debbie for taking care of my EVERY wim), so it was time for a little R+R round the corner at O'Niels... but sometimes... one is always on show...

Next came the big one... the show with 'Never the Bride' at the Boom Boom club, Sutton united football ground, this band is nothing less than stupendous, having performed at the White House, for Cher, Roger Doltry (from the Who) and countless other a-listers... I felt somewhat out of my depth, but Nikki and Bean SOON put a stop to that, and with free flowing Tequilla and Bubbly in the dressing room, my nerves were soon at ease, anyway, these are the girls..

And Bean, Co-writer and Keyboards.

So, with the jitters out of the way, the show started... or in my case... time to 'Get the Party Started'

Now... off to Soho for my usual fix of Londons elite socialites... HUNDREDS OF GAY MEN!!!!, but now a problem... NO SMOKING IN BARS... if the government thought more about moving bin bags off the streets instead of stopping us smoking in the bars, central london would be a cleaner place... and as for Fresh air in bars??? if Non smokers wish to have fresh air... STAND OUTSIDE!!! there is sh*t loads of it!!! plus that way bar owners can still make money without loosing the customers who stand outside (and although the smell of cigs in a bar can be unpleasent... whats worse... cigs, or stale sweat and stale ale???

As the weather was gorgeous, we decided to take a  trip to Richmond, for a couple of (litres) Pimms down by the river.

Kittys nose however was somewhat out of joint, as I was getting litre pitchers... but she felt there may have been favouritism going on...

On a serious note, I would like to congratulte James and all his staff at the Admiral Duncan in Soho, after the terrible Nail Bomb attack in 1998 (where I lost two friends), they have built it back up to being one of sohos thriving gay bars... well done boys, defiance IS the best way!!!
