Hurricane
Sadie
Well, it’s been a while since I’ve spoke to you all… so
what’s been happening to the Diva I hear you all ask, well,
grab a drink, a decent sized snack and read on….
First, a quickie, I would like to thank the Metropolitan
police, and the corralejo car doctors for a fabulous barbeque
on the beach near what remains of the American star, it was a
great day (in the end… after we managed to free our huge
monster trucks from the beach, and coming out from under
cover after the initial down pour), so thanks Paul, Andy, Liz
and David.

Next, you remember EdCase writing about our charity event at
the Oasis bar to raise funds for our dear friend Jill Taylor,
well during the course of the evening we had a few auctions,
and raised a substantial amount of money for the charity. One
of the prizes was a bike tour with Alan and Val from AVM
kitchens, and someone very smartly piped up… ‘I’ll give 50
euros if Sadie does the ride’… IF SADIE DOES THE RIDE??????
Well, I almost choked on my Champers!!!
As it was in the name of charity, of course I accepted
graciously.

The day was ROASTING hot, and after a nerve calmer in Oasis,
my ride arrived (and NO… I don’t mean Alan), there she was…
Gleaming black and silver monster (quite pleased about the
colour as it was the same colour as my outfit), and of
course… I had my essential… champers and cig!!!

So, I think to myself… we are ready for the off… then comes
the HELMET!!! And GOGGLES!!! You can only imagine what I
looked like… from trend setting Diva to Olive from ‘on the
buses’ in 2 secs flat!!! Mind you the helmet did come in
useful for touching up my hair!

So,
leather jacket and scarf on… we head off towards an
unsuspecting El Cotillo where shortly Hurricane Sadie would
touch down!!

First
a stop in Lajares at what has
to be one of the best bakeries on the island, the tarts they
do are really fruity and absolutely delicious - a bit like
yours truly!!

Now, I did have somewhat of a support team, Kitty and Gill
from Sadie’s, Alan and Val and our very own EdCase.

We were
heading for the old harbour in El Cotillo which has been made
into a pedestrian zone, but as you know, this lady doesn't
walk any further than she has to, so I gave Alan a quick poke
(!) and made him drive me over the cobbles right to the door
of the restaurant, which really left me gasping - for a
drink!

I’m not
accustomed to eating (haven’t done since 1975), and certainly
nothing solid anyway!! But a quick change of outfit,
something suitable for the Blue Cow restaurant!

Then we
order our FABULOUS fish dinner… this was for 4 people… check
out the size!!! Also loved the personal service provided by
our equally tasty French waiter...

The waiters didn’t know quite what was happening, they are
used to families dining on a Sunday… not a celebrity such as
myself, but they were very accommodating (2 phone numbers
can’t be that bad… oh what a surprise they’ll get as I do
have something to offer that NO other woman does), they all
chipped in the charity box, and wore their Daffodils with
pride.

Dinner over and a brief autograph signing session, it’s off
to wander around the old harbour in El Cotillo, this is a
lovely little area often overlooked by tourists, but its
quiet and has some fabulous fishermen statues - which of
course I couldn't keep my hands off!!

... and being a
lady larger than life myself, I just had to get a photo of me
and probably the largest lady on the island!

Then it was off to Tostoff… sorry, that came later… the
TostON bar, fabulous drinks and wonderful atmosphere, quick
outfit change again to be back on the bike.

A great day out was had by all, and I would like to thank
Alan for putting up with me crushing him between my thighs (a
lucky man indeed… he walked away from it.. most don’t). Also
thanks to Gill, my dresser, for carting all my gear around
all day, although as you can see, she wasn't always in the
best of tempers!!

Back
to Corralejo and before heading for a long, cold shower - all
this leather just does things to me! - Tubo, EdCases's dog,
decided to thank me for all the effort I had put in - with a
huge kiss - and I told him "no tongues"!!

As you can see from the next pic, this day did somewhat take
it out of us… and as the day went on, you can see that EdCase
and I (minus make-up), started to relax.

On a completely different note, I started D.Jing for a local
radio station HotFm (which you can listen live on the net on
www.hotfmcanary.com), so a quick pic of that too!

Well, I think that’s about it from me for another week, so to
all my devoted readers, thank you for being patient, and I
will see you all again soon, will Keep you posted on tour
dates, First large show, Vicar Street in Dublin on Feb 23rd
2008, tickets available from me via fuertenews.
Ta ta for now my loves.
