TUESDAY 19th FEBRUARY STABLEFORD COMPETITION
Yes it’s me again Dud, you will be hearing a lot more from me from now on as I have volunteered to assist Dave Brown in compiling these reports so as to enable him to concentrate a little more on practicing his golf….. Sorry I mean work! To be honest I feel for him as he does so much running around he’s wearing his legs out!!
Anyway, unfortunately due to late tees being allocated to us for this day we had a smaller than average turn out with 22 players vying for the glory of the day. I was grouped up with the lovely Margot Kenny, Mike Thurman and our past Captain and current Chairman Rob Hughes (how many titles does one man need!). With the breeze turning in its direction during our game it made for an interesting round. We all made a seemingly respectable start although not mind blowing notching up a few points each over the first few holes. This was however until we played the 4th/5th/6th and indeed most of the remaining front 9 holes finishing the front 9 with between 11 and 13 points each, UNTIL the 10th where I thought my luck had changed with a birdie for 4 points and 2 points on 11th again until the 12th where I managed to just clear the water and land my ball under a large rock and with 3 attempts to get it onto the green my luck was short lived and was passed to Rob who managed a whopping 30ft putt for a birdie 2 and be in the 2’s club. Thankfully we all finished with a more respectable back 9 score .
Dave Cooper came home to the clubhouse with 38 points
Phil Richards crawled his way to 2nd place on a card play off with Vice Captain Vince Price. Oh and won a side bet with me…..Drinks on Phil..
Guest winner Tony Faye matched up to our members with a score of 38 points
Dave Cooper, Terry Blood, Rob Hughes and Tony Fawcett all managed to achieve a 2 on the day.
Guest Gary Hickman won nearest the pin on the 8th
Captain and Vice Captain collaboration again! Vince Price taking nearest the pin on the 16th hole.
